Our Philosophy

Hospitality shaped by
altitude and silence

The Inn Between sits on County Road 363, where the Arkansas River carves through the heart of Colorado's Collegiate Peaks. We are neither a resort nor a roadside stop — we are a place for travelers who seek the space between.

Our seven rooms are furnished with locally sourced timber, hand-thrown ceramics from the San Isabel National Forest region, and linens chosen for the particular dry cold of the high desert. Every detail is an invitation to slow down, breathe thin air, and notice what the valley has to offer.

The Experience

Everything you need,
nothing you don't

We believe the best mountain stays are defined by what isn't there — no televisions to distract, no noisy hallways, no rushed check-ins. Just the room, the view, and the quiet certainty that you are exactly where you should be.

Complimentary Mountain Breakfast

Each morning begins with locally sourced eggs, fresh bread from Buena Vista, and coffee roasted in Leadville — served in the sunroom or on the patio, weather permitting.

Trail Maps & Local Guidance

We maintain current maps of every trail from our doorstep — from easy river walks to strenuous summit routes — and a binder of notes from guests who've gone before you.

Private Parking & Gear Storage

Each room has a dedicated parking space. A heated storage room keeps your boots, bikes, and packs dry between adventures.

Fire Pit & Outdoor Lounge

Gather around the stone fire pit after dark. We provide firewood, blankets, and a telescope for the nights when the sky clears above the valley.

Curated Local Experiences

From hot spring trips to ghost tours of old mining towns, we connect guests with the people and places that make this valley worth remembering.

Location

At the center
of everything

Buena Vista sits at 7,955 feet along the Arkansas River, roughly halfway between Leadville and Salida on Highway 50. From The Inn Between, you are ten minutes from Mount Princeton Hot Springs, twenty from the Mount Elbert trailhead, and thirty from the historic mining town of Crested Butte.

The drive in from either direction is worth the time — you'll pass aspen groves that turn gold in October, high-alpine lakes that stay frozen until July, and stretches of road where bighorn sheep cross without hurry.
